This ghost story takes place in Columbia, South Carolina.
This is suppose to represent the swamp on the side of the road.
This is the city the Tipton's were driving to.
This is to represent the street she was walking on, I know it's a bad example.
Say hi to the little girl for me.
Polly Pointer
Absalum Clark (also known as Clark) lived on the north side of Trent. He was the owner of one of the biggest herds of livestock on Hatteras Island. On the other side of the village lived Polly Pointer. Polly Pointer was a hideous old woman that was said to be a witch. Clark was having a lot of trouble with his animals. They where all getting diseases and having very painful deaths or getting to the point where they would have to be put down. There where no explanations for the sudden outbreaks until local villagers where overheard talking about Polly Pointer. They said that she was behaving very strangely. Her demonic laughter was heard while Clarke’s animals suffered their painful deaths.People where sure that Polly had put a curse on the animals.Clarke was unsure if what they where saying was true or not so he decided to avoid confrontation with Polly. But then his favorite stallion died one day while near the shore of Pamlico Sound which was not far from where Polly was found searching for mussels. This is when Clarke was sure it was true.He while in a uncontrollable rage decided that the only way to settle this was to talk to Polly. He sent a message to her that said that if she killed another on of his animals he would break her neck. But that didn’t scare her so that night she killed his finest horse and her colt and once again she was heard that she was making her famous witch like cackle. Clark had finally had enough and one night he decided to make a surprise visit to Polly’s house. She was working on her spinning wheel when he slipped inside her house without being seen.Just as he had said he would he broke her neck.
The next day a local fisherman found her dead body.No one saw Clark kill her but all evidence pointed to him. He was then arrested. His trial was held at the shore of Lake Mattamuskeet. He was then sentenced to a execution. It was said to be the first hanging in the history of the country. The local villagers avoided the witches house at all costs.A few years later a person who didn’t know the story of the house decided to buy it.When he finally found out about the powers of the house and sold it again. When the new owner of the house tried to till the soil a old rope came slithering out of the ground and raised its self at one side.He ran away never to return to the house again.Since then many people have said that the same thing happened to them a rope comes out of the ground and loops its self into a hangman’s noose.
